The last event of the season on the PGA East Region Calendar was the Autumn Classic, a two day event at Thorpeness and Aldeburgh. Captain Luke Eggleston and his partner Jon Gower had a fantastic victory by one shot to take the Autumn Classic title. In tied third was Steve Cipa and his amateur partner Chris Callaway - Chris is coming to Belgium next week with Essex PGA!
I can't believe James Scade's score at Bishop Stortford today - a -9 62. Wow James just brilliant! He won the penultimate tournament in the East Region calendar by the way - by 6 shots.
Jolly well done to Jack Clarke who won the East Anglian Open today - a brilliant couple of scores Jack 68 and 67 equalling an -11 score - to win the tournament by 3 shots. Shown below is Jack with his trophy.

Brett Taylor is confirmed as the winnter of PGA East Region Order of Merit - this has been a really good year for Brett.
Well done to Captain Luke Eggleston and Mark Baker for their joint win at Orsett today. As the home pro, Luke obviously knows the course pretty well but nonetheless their -2 under score of 70 was pretty impressive - Luke and Mark are featured in action below! Mark Stokes was joint 3rd with 1 under.
Adam Burwood from the Warren won the Trainee Matchplay Final last week beating Daniel Coughan 1 up in the Final at Wanstead.. Well done Adam.
Mark Stokes had an amazing -3 under score of 68 at Thorndon Park today to take first place inthe Invitational Pro/Am. In second place on -2 was Brett Taylor .
Mark Baker was at it again with a stunning -5 score of 67 at the Three Rivers Pro/Am on Friday September 16th. Also worth mentioning was James Scade, Steve Cipa, Brett Taylor and Mark Davis all on -2 70 which earned them joint 3rd place.
Mark Davis had a -2 score of 70 to come joint lst at the Dyrham Park Invitation on September 14th. In third place was Jason Levermore with -1.
Dunstable Downs on Sept 9th saw Jason Levermore come joint 1st with a -3 score of 67 and at Hampstead on September 12th, Mark Stokes was best Essex boy with 35 points which put him in tied 3rd position.
Great performance by Essex Pro's at Crews Hill on Wednesday - in joint lst was Mark Davis and Brett Taylor with a -2 score of 68, followed by Andy Pestell in joint 4th with a -1 69
Another fine performance from James Scade at the East Region Trainee Championship. His two round score of 138 (-4) put him in second position behind Ben Kerr. A very good year so far for James.
James Scade (one of our trainees from Regiment Way) is pulling together some brilliant scores this season. He took first place at the Chelmsford Charity Pro/Am with a -6 score of 62. In joint second was Andy Pestell with -2.
At the Ely City Captain's Charity Pro Am, Andy Pestell came second with a -3 score of 69. Well done Pesty!
Essex Pro's are playing so well in the region this year. Another amazingly low score today at Leighton Buzzard from Mark Stokes (picture below) with a -6 score of 65. He won the event obviously! by two shots. Great score Mark - you're the man!

Opps! -I haven't reported on the last two East Region events. First of all the Newmarket Pro/Am - excellent results from Mark Baker and Luke Eggleston who came tied 2nd with a score of -2 - nice! And the Maldon Pro/Am - Chris Cutchie was 3rd with a -2 score of 69.
Great news from the Super Seniors Competition at Belton Woods. Graham Burroughs and his amateur partner Robbie Hubbard won this competition with an impressive -12 score of 132. Their nearest rivals were two shots behind. Graham and Robbie are previous holders of this event when they won it in 2009.

Essex Pro's are very strong in the region at the moment. Jason Levermore won the Stapleford Abbots Pro/Am on Tuesday with a -1 score and in second place was last weeks OOM winner Brett Taylor.
Another Order of Merit at Stockbrook Manor - August 10th and 11th. Great performance by Brett Taylor who won the event with a total score of -4 for the two days. Good performances also by Andy Pestell and Mark Hooper both with -2 and in joint 4th. Brett won the pro/am on the Friday with an amazing score of -7, and in second place was James Scade with -6 - impressive!
Well done Andy Pestell for a cheeky little -4 67 score at Brickenden Grange today. This was good enough for Andy to take joint 1st place (see picture below)

This was received this afternoon from East Region:
It is with the deepest regret that I have to report to you the sad passing of Neil Wichelow last evening. He lost his battle against his terrible illness after a long struggle. Neil contributed towards the development of the PGA East Region and will always be remembered by myself, the staff and many members as one of the regions 'good guys'. There will be a Neil Wichelow PGA Pro-Am at Bush Hill Park Golf Club on 19th September 2011. Should you wish to assist with the success of the event in any way please contact Lee Fickling at Bush Hill Park Golf Club on 020 8360 4103.
Congratulations to Mark Talbott from Thorpe Hall for a fantastic -4 score of 68 which put him tied 2nd in the South Herts Pro/Am on August 1st. Well done Mark!

The Colchester Inviational was today. I guess it must be something in the water at Colchester at the moment as home professional Chrus Cutchie had an amazing - 5 score of 65 to take the professional prize by one from Mark Davis (Thorndon) and James Scade (Regiment Way) .
It is remiss of me not to have mentioned some really good performances by Essex Pros in recent events. First of all the PGA East Region Championship at Wanstead June-20th and 21st Mark Davis from Thorndon Park was in joint 1st place with a -6 score of 132 but unfortunatley lost to Stuart Brown in a playoff.
The following day was the East Region Championship Pro Am at Wanstead and I am delighted to report that our Captain Luke Eggleston (below) had a magnificent score of 65 -4 to win the individual pro event with Brett Taylor in second place on 67.
And finally at Kings Lynn, Mark Baker (shown bleow) had an absolutely amazing score of -10 62 (surely that's a course record?) to win the event.

Here are our pro boys from Colchester - Mark Angel, Chris Cutchie and Mark Baker with thier very keen bunch of youngsters after the mini junior championship last week. This event is only open to the 11 year olds and under and they hold events each week apparently/

Our dearest friend - Paul (I love practicsing) Hills! at Monte Rei

Johnnie Fryatt's team in action - I though you said I was over swinging JF!

This was just the best hole at Monte Rei - I think it was the 12th. The Tee was really high up and the green was the size of a postage stamp, folded in half with water at the back.

One of the Vila Sol holes.

This picture doesn't do it justice but the practice faciliies at Monte Rei were FAB.

Jacke Clarke and his team at Vila Sol.

Paul Hills with Jack and his boys!

What a fantastic finish
